Accessibility Statement
Last updated: September 3, 2026
Drift Lab Studio Inc. builds The Cut for golfers who want to get better. That includes golfers who use screen readers, navigate by keyboard, rely on larger text, or need reduced motion. This page describes where we stand today — honestly, including the parts we have not finished.
1. Conformance Standard
We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard most widely referenced in accessibility law and practice.
Current status: partially conformant. "Partially conformant" means most of the site meets the standard, but some content does not yet. The specific gaps we know about are listed in section 3.
2. What Currently Works
- Colour contrast. Body text, secondary text, and our gold accent all meet or exceed the 4.5:1 ratio WCAG requires for normal text against our dark green background.
- Text scaling. Pages reflow without loss of content when text is enlarged or the browser is zoomed.
- Semantic structure. Pages use real headings in a logical order, so screen reader users can navigate by heading rather than reading linearly.
- Native controls. Expandable FAQ sections use native HTML elements that work with keyboard and assistive technology by default, rather than custom scripted widgets.
- Descriptive links. Interactive elements without visible text, such as the App Store download button, carry text labels for screen readers.
3. Known Limitations
We have identified the following barriers and are working to resolve them. If one of these is blocking you right now, contact us and we will help you directly while we fix it.
- Reduced motion is not yet honoured. Our home page includes looping background and cursor animations that continue to play even when your device is set to reduce motion. Target: fixed by November 2026.
- Decorative icons are not hidden from screen readers. Some illustrative icons may be announced as unlabelled graphics, adding noise to the reading experience. Target: fixed by November 2026.
- The interactive demo does not announce updates. On the home page, the sample coaching conversation streams in new text without notifying screen reader users that it has changed. Target: fixed by December 2026.
- Skip navigation is inconsistent. This page offers a "Skip to content" link; most other pages do not yet. Target: fixed by November 2026.
- One accent colour falls short. Our lighter green is used in a few small labels at a contrast ratio below the 4.5:1 threshold for small text. Target: fixed by November 2026.
4. The iOS App
This statement covers the cut.coach website. The Cut's iOS app has not yet undergone a formal accessibility assessment, and we make no conformance claim for it here. We intend to assess it against Apple's accessibility guidance and will update this page with the results. In the meantime, if you hit a barrier in the app, please report it using the contact details below — app reports get the same treatment as website reports.
5. How We Assess
The findings above come from a self-evaluation carried out by Drift Lab Studio in September 2026, combining automated checks with manual keyboard and structural review. We have not commissioned a third-party audit. We re-evaluate when we ship significant changes to the site.
6. Feedback and Reporting a Barrier
If you cannot access something on The Cut, we want to hear about it. Reports from users are the fastest way we find real problems.
Email hello@driftlabstudio.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line, or use our support page. Where possible, tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology, browser, or device you were using.
We aim to respond within 5 business days. If we cannot fix an issue quickly, we will tell you what we are doing instead and offer an alternative way to get the information or complete the task.
7. Alternative Access
If any part of The Cut is unusable for you, we will provide the same information or service another way — including by email or over the phone — at no additional cost. Ask us at the address above.
